Violet Aquatic (Encaustic collage on paper)
Artist, Dawn Behling, will be exhibiting select works in the Rotunda Gallery at the Jackson County Library Complex, Historic Courthouse, Sylva, NC. The exhibit will run from April 13 through the end of May.
This exhibit features nature-inspired work that has an imaginative, dream-like quality.
Behling’s work reveals lush colors and rich visual textures that express idealized environments. Collaged aquatic imagery, to screen printed leaf patterns are some of the themes that will be included in the exhibit. The media she uses in her work varies from acrylic, encaustic, collage, and screen print.
A new exhibit will be on view at the Rotunda Gallery at the Historic Jackson County Courthouse beginning this Friday, February 15, 2013 running through March 6, 2013. Sylva artist, Greg McPherson will be exhibiting a series of paintings called Furrow. Each piece is named for a star in the constellation of Virgo. Virgo traditionally represents fertility and is the sign of my muse. The landscapes represented are Sylvan, impacted by towering mountains and a sliver of sky.
In the end, this work is about many intersecting forms of love. List of titles for Furrow:
