Jackson County Junior Appalachian Musicians Program

Jackson County Arts Council is happy to announce the return of the Junior Appalachian Musicians Program to Jackson County!

JAM is an after-school program providing students instruction and performance opportunities in Mountain Heritage Music on traditional Appalachian instruments.  Children ages 7 and up may choose lessons in Fiddle (violin), Ukulele, Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo and Bass.  Loaner instruments are available.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays at the Jackson County Library in Sylva starting at 4 PM.  The instructors are experienced and enthusiastic local musicians and educators.  Class time will include instrument instruction, as well as learning to play music as a group jam and string band.  There will also be fun cultural enrichment sessions with local guest artists on selected weeks.

Tuition is just $100 per 10-week semester ($10/lesson).  Multiple child family discounts and limited need-based scholarships are available.
